now friend me

Point is, when two people in a committed relationship break, we see how it psychologically effects a person, but I think the same could be said about friendship. On how not being friends with someone you've truly considered to be family but also something more than that and one day you just don't talk to them anymore either on your personal choice or maybe they've left you for good. We've seen the portrayal of one-sided love, but never the longing of wanting to be someone's friend, to be part of their everyday life. And by this I don't mean it in the sense of being friends with someone just because they're popular but because you genuinely enjoy talking to them. And imagine doing everything and going out of your way to make them like you, just to know that they'll always have a person whom they like better than you. This one-sided, stranded feeling is something I've felt from time to time, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this, but how come its never talked about?
As if to make it worse, the way media perceives friendship is truly maddening. It loves categorizing how this bond between two people works. The pretty one- the ugly one, the extrovert-the introvert, the I couldn't give two shits and- I have OCD one... and just blatantly anything that sets two people apart but the biggest loophole is trying to make one seem better than the other. And if this is one side of that madness then the other one consists of that one friend who'll only come if they had a problem or to just create some more drama. The fights that take place are quite interesting too because if two friends fought, its because of a guy or because one of them is too jealous of the other. I'm not saying these are not reasons as of to why people might fall apart but this is all we get. I keep wondering if its hard to write a good script nuancing on how ones ideologies made it really hard to bear each other. These are not unheard of but they're barely there...
Honestly though, in real life a lot of fallouts happen because of different ideologies more than anything and while this might be a valid reason, I always come back to the conclusion that no matter how different one might be, if you have a willing heart to listen someone out, willing to understand how the other person feels, but more importantly, putting yourself in their shoes just to know what the whole deal is, it just makes it sooo much better. And I guess thats where a lot of us fail. We're human through and through.
So whats the big deal anyways? Its not like the world will end without these ideas or anything. But does it directly effect us? yes. This is quite a good way to corner ourselves and the see the only world we get: the one under the rock. The one with a pretty headline but no content and eventually decaying every last of our braincells.
